Saba Masho, M.D., M.P.H, Dr.PH., is professor of epidemiology in the Departments of Family Medicine and Population Health and Obstetrics and Gynecology at Virginia Commonwealth University with expertise in maternal and child health epidemiology. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Gondar Medical College of Sciences in Ethiopia and her Doctor of Public Health degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Masho worked in Oakland, Calif., and at Marshall University in West Virginia before joining VCU in 2001.
Masho is the program director of the Master of Public Health and Doctor of Philosophy programs in the Division of Epidemiology in the VCU Department of Family Medicine and Population Health. She is also director of community based participatory research at the VCU Institute for Women’s Health, a federally designated National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health, and serves as principal investigator of multiple federally funded research projects in the areas of perinatal health, youth violence prevention and provision of comprehensive care to underserved families. Dr. Masho has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and delivered several national scientific presentations.
