My research focuses on improving the social, emotional and behavioral functioning of children and adolescents with ADHD by examining risk and protective factors at the parent, child and family level. Recent projects have examined emotion regulation and physiological reactivity of children with ADHD, the role of parent emotion socialization in children’s emotion regulation, and various factors (e.g., parental knowledge and attitudes about ADHD and treatment, comorbid child psychopathology, treatment satisfaction) impacting treatment utilization and adherence among treatment naïve children with ADHD and their families. My long-term goal is to disseminate interventions targeting emotional and social competences in children with ADHD to community settings, and to examine factors that might allow us to identify and adapt treatments to children based on their unique profile (i.e., executive function skills, emotion reactivity, comorbid symptomatology).
