The Clark-Hill Institute is proud to highlight the achievement of Dr. Chelsea Willians, a professor in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Williams was award a William T. Grant Foundation Institutional Challenge Grant in partnership with Jesse Senechal, Hillary Parkhouse, Danielle Greene-Bell, and Victoria Gochez. Richmond’s multilingual student population has nearly doubled, but graduation rates have not kept pace. Now, Richmond Public Schools and VCU are partnering on a research project to change that. The immediate goal is to better outcomes for Richmond’s multilingual children and youth. The longer-term goal is to continue to build the partnership between VCU and Richmond Public Schools.

This grant reflects the Clark-Hill Institute’s commitment to advancing science that supports positive youth development. We congratulate Dr. Williams on this outstanding accomplishment and look forward to the real-world impact of this research.
