Summer Bryant is a doctoral student at VCU working under Dr. Fantasy Lozada in the S.H.I.E.L.D. Lab. She was awarded the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) Doctoral Scholar award. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2015. Her research interests broadly focus on the role of race-related experiences, particularly in African American youth, such as racial socialization, ethnic-racial identity development, and racial discrimination on emotion beliefs, regulation, and expression.
